Cloudly Hosts “From Code to Cloud: Practical DevOps with AWS” at AIUB

Cloudly in collaboration with the AIUB Computer Club (ACC), successfully hosted an interactive workshop titled “From Code to Cloud: Practical DevOps with AWS” at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).

The workshop brought together more than 200 enthusiastic students interested in cloud computing, DevOps and modern software development. Designed to connect academic knowledge with real-world industry practices, the event provided participants with practical insights into how software applications move from the development stage to deployment in a cloud environment.

The session began with an introduction to DevOps and its growing importance in the technology industry. Participants learned how DevOps brings development and operations teams together to improve collaboration, automate workflows and deliver software more efficiently. The discussion also highlighted how organizations use DevOps practices to increase deployment speed, maintain system reliability and respond more effectively to changing business requirements.

The workshop introduced students to cloud-native architecture and demonstrated how cloud technologies are transforming traditional infrastructure and software delivery models. Participants explored the basic concepts of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and learned how organizations use cloud platforms to build, deploy, manage and scale applications.

Several essential technical topics were covered during the session, including the differences between Docker containers and virtual machines. Students learned how containerization helps package applications and their dependencies into portable environments, making it easier to maintain consistency throughout development, testing and deployment. The session also explained how these technologies contribute to modern, scalable and efficient application infrastructure.

Beyond technical concepts, the workshop provided students with an understanding of professional responsibilities, required skills and common challenges within DevOps and cloud engineering roles. Practical industry examples helped demonstrate how cloud and DevOps professionals collaborate, troubleshoot deployment issues, manage infrastructure and support application availability.

A recent AIUB graduate currently working at Cloudly Infotech Limited also shared insights from his professional journey. His experience helped students better understand the transition from university education to a professional technology career, as well as the practical skills required to work in cloud computing and DevOps.

The workshop’s hands-on segment gave participants an opportunity to apply what they had learned. Students were guided step by step through the necessary installation and environment setup processes while receiving explanations about each stage of the workflow.

The event concluded with a live demonstration of deploying a Netflix-inspired project using AWS. The demonstration presented the complete journey from preparing an application to making it available through a cloud environment. This practical exercise gave students a clearer understanding of how DevOps tools, cloud infrastructure and deployment processes work together in a real project.

Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at AIUB, and Ishmam Mahdy, Head of Operations at Cloudly Infotech Limited, were also present at the event.

The participants remained attentive and actively engaged throughout the workshop, reflecting their strong interest in gaining practical knowledge of emerging technologies. The combination of foundational learning, industry insights and live implementation made the workshop a valuable learning experience for aspiring technology professionals.

Through initiatives such as “From Code to Cloud,” Cloudly Infotech Limited continues to support the development of future technology professionals by connecting academic learning with practical industry experience. The company remains committed to encouraging cloud adoption, building DevOps capabilities and creating opportunities for students to explore modern technology careers.
